Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
I've only been in my 3rd trimester for about a week now, but I've been having trouble sleeping for a while. It started in the middle of my 2nd trimester. It got better for about 2 weeks where I would sleep through the night. It started off where I would just get up in the middle of the night to pee, which I know is COMPLETELY normal. Haha! Then it got to be I'd wake up about every hour or so because I was so uncomfortable or in so much pain. I bought a body pillow (the snoogle) that helped for a bit, but the only thing that really helped was to sleep on my back. I know, I know, big no no during pregnancy, especially this late. Anyways, like I said for about 2 weeks it got better and I slept through the night (didn't even wake up to pee, amazing!). Now, I'm back to waking up in the middle of the night to pee, which is fine, but what is bothering me is how much pain I'm in when I wake up. Its getting to the point where the pain is waking me up in the middle of the night again. I try to sleep on my left side (which I ALWAYS have before I got pregnant), but it is SO uncomfortable. I sleep with the pillow under my belly to support it, but the pain is still there. It feels like I slept with cinder blocks on me and my hips KILL me when I wake up. In the mornings, I find myself waking up on my back which is so very comfortable, but I know is so bad to do. It seems like thats the only relief I get though. Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel silly talking to my doctor about it because it isn't really a complication, its just annoying.
BTW, I will be 28 weeks on 6/22/08. I'm due 9/14/08.

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
YES YES YES! Your message was very timely because I did just talk to my doctor about this...I have been waking up at least once a night (sometimes not even to pee or because of any uncomfortable feelings) since about 8 weeks and I am almost 20 weeks now. I know it is going to get worse (and that is just the fun part of pregnancy) but as a remedy if I had multiple sleepless nights to get one good night ,he reminded me that some woman take extra B6 and a half of a unisom to help with morning/night sickness. I have not taken it because I am really trying to just get through the pregnancy without any medications, but you may want to talk to your doctor because you need rest for a healthy baby too and you sound like you are in a lot of pain. Another string on this board earlier discussed the same combo and so I know more than my doctor have recommended. Either way, I feel your pain and good luck!

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
Just wait till your in your last month.lol...it only gets worse...I have only 3 weeks left and im begging for her to come early because i am so uncomfortable especially at night. I wake up at least 5 times a night to try a different sleeping position. I have horrible back pain and my Braxton Hicks contractions are getting worse. I have found a nice warm bath before bed helps get me to sleep faster. Also some streaching before bed helps too. I get out of bed n the middle of the night and do some back streches and it releaves the tension in my back. Sometimes I even have to resort to laying on the couch when my back is really bad. The back of the couch is good support on my back while sleeping. I also use a chiropractor for adjustments but the pain is constant so not even that is helping. Just stick it out.

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
yeah, that is a weird feeling isnt it. i dont get it in my arms or hands but I get it on the top of my stomach right under my breasts. Its like that feeling when a body part "falls asleep". I get it especially at night, i wake up from it because it is so uncomfortabe. i end up having to strech my stomach and chest out. lol at the body pillow. my poor hubby has no space to sleep as it is, then throw my body pillow on top of it all.

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
I am 30 weeks and would love to tell you that it gets better, but so far it hasn't for me. In fact, it has gotten worst. Wait until you wake up with a charlie horse from hell. My back hurts! When I lay on my left side, I feel like I can't breathe and if I lay on my right, most times my daughter will start kicking me until I change position again. I am also getting a lot of pains in my hips and my pelvis. From what I have read, it is normal. The ligaments are stretching and the joints softening. I use pillows as much as possible and change positions many times throughout the night.
Good luck to you in your sleeping endeavors...I haven't found anything that works yet. Luckily, I am due in ten weeks. =)

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
Ugh, well I guess if there is no relief then I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem! At least you all are miserable with me. Hehe! And yes, I get those weird tingling feelings too, as if a body part has "fallen asleep". What the heck is that about? My husband and I switched sides of the bed last night to see if that might work. I didn't wake up as much, but I still woke up a few times and was still in loads of pain this morning. I feel so bad for him having to deal with a huge body pillow laying on his face all night. Haha! I only have 12 weeks left til my due date, so not too much longer, but long enough if you know what I mean. What were we thinking getting pregnant at the time we did and going through the whole hot humid summer????

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
30 weeks this week and yes, I am having trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position. My husband got me all the pillows in the world but nothing seems to help. I like to sleep on my right side but my right rib(just below my right breast,) and my right back hurts. Left side doesn't work because it presses on my stomach and yeah! the indigestion is awful. I like to sleep on my back but the baby doesn't like it. The baby will not stop moving until I change positions :((((
I heard this is only going to get worst and I can only imagine. The way I look at it, it prepares me for the upcoming sleepless nights when the baby is here :))))

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
I have some trouble sleeping. I'm almost 30 weeks now. I still get up 2-3 times a night to go pee. My pelvic bones have been hurting really bad and if I move just a tiny little bit I have to try to get comfortable again. It's hard finding a good position.. Usually I sleep on my left side or halfway on my stomach. But now I can't seem to ever find a good position

Re: Anyone else having trouble sleeping???
Aahh, the joys of pregnancy. I am 30 weeks now and I too find it difficult to sleep. I have to pee faithfully, every 2 hours. If I wake up and my hips are hurting then I know I was lying exactly on my side, which is not a great position either. I usually try the side, with one leg out in front, so I'm leaning a bit toward my belly. Yes, the baby kicks but they will eventually get comfy too, so wait it out. When I was pregnant with my first I was so big I looked like those women who are having 3 or 4 babies, I was huge! I resorted to sleeping on the couch, it does help with back support. I was laughing out loud at Shaila's comment on the charlie horse from hell. I woke up 2 nights ago with a charlie horse, which is not uncommon, but normally I can flex my foot and it goes away. Nothing was working to get rid of it! I ended up screaming my husbands name and jerking him out of sleep and scaring the crap out of him. I'm screaming rub it, rub it! He starts rubbing and still nothing. I had to get out of bed and walk to get rid of it, it was a lovely little adventure. So, yeah, the charlie horses from hell suck!
