    Level 2 ultrasound

I am 20 weeks today and went for a level 2 ultrasound.  All the the measurments were right where they should be.  The neck,

the legs, heart was fine. It only had 1 marker which showed a cyst on the brain.  The doctor said this is very common and

it will go away.   I left the office about to pass out.  I think if my baby had downs they would have been other markers. Everything

was fine.  Please everyone I just need some reasurrance.   Thanks

I'm not sure about the cyst part, but if the doctor said it was common and will go away, it's probably fine! Be BRAVE!!!

    HEY,

WELL, I HAD MY U/S DONE AT 20WKS, SAME THING, THE DR INFORMED ME AT MY FOLLOWING VISIT THAT THE BABY HAD A CYST IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS BRAIN THAT MEASURED 2MM.  WHICH IS EXTREMELY TINY, HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS A CHOROID PLEXUS CYST AND THAT IT WAS CEREBROSPINAL FLUID AND DEBRIS THAT ACCUMULATES AND FORMS A POCKET OR AS THEY CALL IT, A CYST, IT IS HARMLESS, AND IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH TRISOMY 21 AND 18, HOWEVER, THERE ARE ALWAYS OTHER MARKERS THAT ARE PRESENT IN THOSE CASES AND IN MY BABY'S CASE HE HAD NO OTHER MARKERS.  MY DR IS AND EXCELLENT DR AND I FULLY TRUST HIM, I DELIVER IN SIX DAYS AT WHICH TIME HE IS HAVING THE PEDIATRICIAN SCAN THE BABY'S BRAIN TO LOOK AT THE CYST WHICH HE SAYS WILL PROBABLY BE GONE.  I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW EVERYTHING GOES AND MAYBE THAT WILL HELP YOU.  THERE IS A WEBSITE YOU CAN GO TO FOR MORE INFO ABOUT THE CHOROID PLEXUS CYST. IT IS CHOROIDPLEXUSCYST.ORG

    I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU,

    THANKS,

    JEN

    Thanks Jen,

I do feel alot better. I also did not have any other markers.  Sometimes the doctors scare you a little. Good luck

and keep me posted.   Thanks Shirley

YOU ARE VERY WELCOME, I OF COURSE FREAKED OUT FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS BUT AS TIME PASSED AND I TALKED TO OTHERS WHO HAVE RESPONDED TO MY POST ON HERE AND ASKED THE DOCTOR MORE QUESTIONS AND RESEARCHED IT MYSELF, I EVENTUALLY BEGAN TO CALM DOWN.  LIKE I SAID, I WILL DEFINITELY REPOST AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF ANYTHING.  IM JUST GLAD I COULD HELP YOU BETTER UNDERSTAND AND SHARE MY SITUATION. IT HELPS TO KNOW THAT IT IS MORE COMMON THAN WE THINK.

    JEN
