Did IVF, 4 Weeks Pregnant and HCG Level rising really slow. Need Help

i had 4 embryos trasnferred 13 days ago. last sunday i just found out i am 4 weeks pregnant. The initial result of my blood work is as follows: HCG is 123 (nurse said anything higher than 50 is good) as for progesterone mine was 20.2 (anything over 15 is good)

The dilemna that i have is that i went back for my 2nd blood work today and the results are as follow:  HCG 139 and Progesterone is 29,2. My IVF nurse said my HCG should be in 202 level.. and now I am so SCARED. Does that mean I will lose my baby?  I have another blood work this thursday...But in the meantime, what should i do?

    Thanks in advance

    Camille

First of congratulations...sit back and relax..do not STRESS.  I do not have experience in your situation, but what I do no know is every pregnancy is different.  No ones body performs exactly to the typical science text books...It does not appear your tests were far apart.  Do not worry, you will see a huge difference....it's very early on, but if you feel fine and have no spotting bleeding and since they placed them, you know it not etopic...just rest.

Easier said than done...I know, My first trimester was spotting and other issues, no fun...but relax

    Hi Camille,

I just wanted to check in to see how things were progressing. I also had invitro treatments and am currently 6 weeks pregnant. Congrats to you!

Your question is a good one, and I would refer you to this website which lists the appropriate HCG levels based on your week: http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/hcglevels.html

According to this, your numbers are fine and still in-line with what is viable.

One correction I do want to make from the other post however. Just b/c the embryos were placed in our uterus does NOT mean we can't have an ectopic pregnancy. There's still a chance that the embryo can float to your fallopian tubes- it's not officially viable and stable in your uterus until your hormone levels are where they should be. In general you really need to hang tight until your ultrasound.

Although my levels are different, I too have anxiety waiting for my ultrasound which is on Mon the 15th.

I hope some of this information was helpful to you.

    Stay in touch,

    Marnie

I too went thru IVF and numerous frozen embryo transfers.  It's just too hard to predict sometimes with HCG levels.  It's very nerve wracking waiting for that first sonogram not knowing if you're feeling the way you do because of all the medications (extra hormones) or pregnancy or both.  I know de-stressing is easier said than done.  This last time around my husband and I finally had to just go with the flow----continue to live life and stop focusing all our time and energy waiting 3 weeks for the sonogram.   It helped and I'm 8 weeks pregnant.

    Good Luck

    Kristen
