? About the 1 hr glucose test

Well, I went this morning for my 28 week appointment and took the glucose test.  After that I met with the doctor for about 25 minutes and then I waited in the waiting room for 35 minutes for the blood draw.  The nurse said I could drink water, so I drank maybe 1/2 to 1 cup water in the 35 minutes I sat in the waiting room.  The lady who drew my blood had a fit and said I shouldn't have drank anything because it can alter the test.  I am 37 and overweight, so I want to make sure I have an accurate test.  Can drinking that small amount of water alter the test that much?  Could it really make it so it looks like I don't have GD when I really do?  It seems to me that if I do have GD, my body wouldn't be able to process the sugar in the drink regardless if I drank some water or not.  Help!  What do you think?

My Dr. and the lady who drew my blood both said that it was not only perfectly fine to drink as much water as I wanted but it was good to do. It shouldn't alter the test what so ever. I drank a full bottle during the one hour test and my results came back positive so I wouldn't worry about it.
