Update on "low placenta".. and other things

    Greetings,

So, as some of you know, at 20 weeks I had a scare with bleeding and they determined that my placenta was low.  I went for a follow up sonogram a couple of weeks ago and I am happy to report that the placenta is fine now (not low at all, no placenta previa!).  Which is great.  I had an appt. with my midwife today and now all of a sudden this baby wants to be in the breech position.  So I was given a whole bunch of "exercises" to do to try to get the baby to turn.. so far, he/she is not budging.  But we have time to get the baby to the right position since i just make 30 weeks this week. I'm just extremely grateful that the placenta is positioned correctly now.  Oh! I was also told that i need to take in more calories each day, because i have only gained 10 pounds so far.  (My midwife would like me to try to gain 10 more).  I'll try, but I already feel like I'm always eating.

I'm so happy that tings are working out for you. It makes me feel a little better hearing that someone else is not gaining much weight either. I haven't gained any yet, I've gone back and forth between 135 and 138 losing and gaining. I only gained 20 lbs with my first so I guess I'll be ok. But, I just expected to gain faster  and more with my second and it does feel like I'm eating all the time. Anyway, sorry I rambled there a bit. Good luck on getting the baby to turn.

I'm happy your placenta shifted out of the way enough - hopefully mine will do the same! They found out at my 18 week ultrasound that my placenta was low-lying and my 24 week ultrasound showed that it didn't shift much at all yet. I'm a little over 27 weeks today (yay third trimester!), and I'll have another ultrasound sometime in the next few weeks (I'll schedule it next time I see my OB). I really don't want a c-section (i've never had surgery in my life!), but if that's what it takes to have a happy healthy baby then I guess I'll have to get over it, now won't I? Smile  At least we'll get another peek at the gender with the next ultrasound! The 18 week ultrasound the little one had their legs criss-crossed the entire time, the 24 week ultrasound the tech said that he "thinks" its a girl, but he wasn't sure. *fingers crossed on a shifting placenta and being able to clearly see the boy or girl parts!*

I've only gained ten pounds too, but I'm three weeks behind you. It's different for everyone, but my doctor didn't seem too concerned. For most pregnancies, it's normal to gain a pound or so a week in the last trimester, so I wouldn't stress out over it.

Good luck on getting the baby to turn!

I'm happy to hear that your placenta has corrected itself. I hope your baby will turn for you and not be so stubborn like most of them are. I have gained about 12-13 pounds so far. I watch really carefully what I eat and I do seem to walk alot. My appetite hasn't changed any since I got pregnant. At first I didn't feel like eating cuz I wasn't hungry and then in the 2nd trimester I ate alot better. Now my appetite has went down again some and have my days where I don't want to eat anything but I try my hardest to snack on some carrots or other healthy foods.

On TLC, they have a show based out of Florida at a midwifery school and they had a patient with a breech baby. The midwife had the mom put bags of frozen veggies on the top of her tummy, where the baby's head is to try to get it to turn. Unfortunately it didn't work for her, but it's worth a shot, right? Good luck!
