We also stopped using paper towels - we buy rags at the dollar store.  We also started recycling a lot more and have really noticed a reduction in our trash.

I was so excited to find that my local STAPLES store carried the biodegradable plastic cups and plates!  They are made from corn and go right back into the earth with no toxins.  You can even order them online at staples.com  I am going to use all these for my summer picnics and even at home.  WHAT AN AWESOME WAY TO SAVE THE ENVIORNMENT, I HOPE THESE WILL BECOME MORE READILY AVAILABLE AT GROCERY STORES ETC.

Everytime I wash my  hands I turn off the water to lather my hands and turn it back on when I'm ready to rinse; I do the same in the shower while shaving my legs.

I've also stopped buying plastic bottled water and use my Brita pitcher to refill my stainless water bottle.

BTW for all you greenies who use energy effiicient light bulbs please don't throw away or include in your regular recylce bin - they have mercury in the base so they need to be recycled at centers that can handle mercury based products:

If you live in Colorado there are several Ace Hardware stores that will accept your recycled energy efficient light bulbs.

We do our part in recycling, reusing and redistributing useable items. Recently we have donated clothes to a teen shelter. We need to start helping at risk teens be recycled and given a new life of their own. These kids may not be cute anymore. Many are angry and scarred but by giving them things to help live like clothes, dishes, school supplies and shoes give them things to help them succeed in life.

I have been Green for years ,I was call frugal instead of Green. LOL My tips are eat everything fresh ,don't buy food with alot of packaging, buy glass containers instead of plastic, milk in cardboard cartons. There is so much we all can do ,keep it simple and its easy. You will end up with a lot less waste, which makes recycling easy. Companys will soon place food in these containers if we do't buy wasteful packaging.

We're starting small - and trying to eliminate plastic baggies.  I'm amazed by how often I reached for them - for things like little snacks and dirty bibs.  We use reusable, waterproof wetbags for the dirty duds and reusable snack containers.  It's a small step but it seems to make a big difference at our house!

We're starting small, and eliminating plastic baggies.  I used to reach for them all the time for little snacks or dirty bibs.  Now, we use reusable, waterproof fabric bags (wetbags) for the dirty duds and reusable snack containers.  It's a little step that seems to make a big difference at our house!

Our family recycles all paper, plastics and cans. It is amazing how little trash we have! We only have to put our trash out every 2 weeks instead of every week. Our city makes it very easy to recycle with green bins located at all the parks, fire stations and in some store parking lots as well, so you can take the recyclibles in the same trip to go to the grocery store.
