    Level 2 ultrasound

I am now almost 18 weeks pregnant.  My doctor said everything looks great. Then all of a sudden she looks at

my chart and says "Oh your 35" She is a new doctor in my office and her bedside manner is terrible, I love the other

two doctors  I did not take those test because of high false positives.  At 20 weeks she is sending me for a level 2

ultrasound. She has got me scared to death that something is wrong with my baby.  She assures me everthing is

fine.  She keeps saying well you are 35.  I am so worked up over this that I have made myself sick.  This is my

third child.  Why do these doctors scare you so bad. My ultrasound is June 2.  Has anyone else been scared to death

about this ultrasound.  Do you think that I am over reacting?  Thanks

    Re: Level 2 ultrasound

In the wonderful world of medicine, women 35 and up are considered advanced maternal age. Don't take offense, you know you're not old, some doctor somewhere just decided that that was the cutoff point. I wouldn't worry too much, sometimes Dr.'s don't think before they speak. They are more focused on problem solving than patient relations. I have the same problems with the OB's I am seeing. They are both young and not very experienced. I realized too late that I didn't like them. If you ever feel like you didn't get enough info from your Doc, look it up. Empower yourself via the internet. At least that's what I do when I'm not satisfied with the things they tell me. Good luck at your u/s and really, try not to worry!
