It's official that I have not slept for more than 3 hours at a time for 7 months (with two exceptions when he was sick and slept for 6 hours straight). My 7 month old boy wakes up, on average, every two hours. However, throughout the night he has times when he sleeps for 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, and very rarely, 3 hours at a time. I am at my wit's end. Everything in my life, especially relationships and quality of life in general is suffering. I am depressed because I am up so much and rarely get through a full sleep cycle, let alone multiple ones at once. I am a zombie all day long. My husband helps as much as he can, but so much of the time Thomas (our baby) will only go back to sleep when nursed. We've tried to let him cry. We've tried just going in and trying to calm him down without picking him up. But he works himself up into such a fit that nothing will calm him down except nursing. (meaning: screaming, crying so hard he stops breathing, and so on.) It breaks my heart to hear him so upset in the night, and I am at a total loss as far as what to do.
People have said that he's teething. The doctor said he was teething and that's why he's not been sleeping. However, this started when he was just barely 3 months old. He was sleeping SO much better than this. Granted, then he slept for a 4 hour stretch and then woke up every two hours after that for the rest of the night, but at least that was better.
Please help!!!
