Angie, you can always ask the Dr, about dressings that you can wear on your incision to help keep it dry. I know that dressings aren't neccessary, but maybe it might help. Losing weight is always a healthy and admiral goal and I wish you the best of luck, I too will be working on ridding myself of the double belly roll thing I have going on after I have the baby. The back pain you mention though, I do not think is neccessarily weight related. I am sorry if this is too personal and feel free to let me know, but you may want to consider a breast reduction. The problems you are having with your breathing and back sound more closely related to your large breast size than weight. Good luck!

Yup, me too. Started my first pregnancy at 190 and delivered at 220. Did not develop gest diabetes, thank God. Everything was relatively normal. Gave birth vaginally and everything went well. This time, I am 215 and in my fourth month. I had planned to get to 160 before trying again but --- Surprise! Hoping nothing goes bad this time. Does being overweight up the risk of gest diabetes? I'm starting to think I need to address with my doc. All I can say is just try to eat right and get a little exercise every day or every other day. You'll be fine.

I am 25 weeks along with my first and I started my pregnancy at 215 lbs (5'4").  My doctor tried to get me to lose more weight (I had lost about 20) before getting pregnant but I was too impatient and we started trying anyway.  Everything seems to be going just fine though.  I am swelling a little earlier then some women but I think that's due to my weight as well.  I started out loving fruits and veggies and now I can seem to get myself to touch them.  I don't really crave anythign aside from pizza every once in a blue moon.  I'm still having troubles keeping my weight where I want it even though I'm eating better now then before I got pregnant.  I've gained about 17 lbs so far.  I'm hoping I get keep from gaining too much more but we'll see!  Good luck to you!  Wink

I started my pregnancy at 200. I am 22 weeks along and have only gained 5 lbs. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that my cravings have been for fruits and veggies the entire time. I have also been very conscious of what I'm eating other than just cravings. My husband and I cut out all fast food and I started bringing lunch with me to work. It also helped that my co-workers have been very supportive and will bring me healthy snack thorough out the day. I say just take care of yourself and pay attention to what your body needs and you will be fine. You may even loose a little weight.

Well Angie, I am going to be useless in helping you.  I am pregnant with my first...I have never had a c-section and I have no idea how to keep the area dry.  However, with that said, I wanted to thank you for the bra site and for the motherhood site.  I know I will check them out.

As for the weight thing, I mentioned earlier I had started Weight Watchers....I did not go to meetings this time around, but I still had all the books to count points etc.   You can really eat a lot of food and lose weight.  I was down the 25 before even working out.  Now I'm prego...and yes I cheat at times, but for the most part, it became just a real healthy way of eating and I did not starve....I craved junk...that is the killer to break, but at the least food supply can be abundant.  You did not mention how far along you were, but I wish the best, and since you've been thru it before you have nothing to worry about.

I come from a family of "buffet people" so I can relate to all of you.  But you're pregnant and growing a little person inside of you so you need to worry about feeding that baby and not about what you weigh or what you'll gain (unless your doctor has advised you otherwise for health reasons).

    Best of luck!
