    Name ideas

so, i'm 29weeks along and don't know if i'm having a boy or a girl.  my husband and i are just starting to talk about names but don't really agree. my daughter's name is Ava which means that i can't have any "A" names. (i don't know...just can't do it) the fact that my top choices are both "L" names is just a coincidence.

for a girl i like Laila

    for a boy i like Luca/Louka

middle names i like Rae or Elizabeth (both after family) or Joy, and for a boy the middle name would probably be John (my FIL's name and my husband's middle name)

    what does everyone think?

I'm not a big fan of Louca.   I'm not sure how to pronounce it!

I love Luca...I wanted that name too, but my husband said noooo. I'm not sure I like Louca.... I do like that it is spelled different and unique!

Personally, I would choose Luke over Luca.   (Is the other boy's name pronouced the same as Luca?)  Maybe it's the numerous years of Italian classes that I took but I feel names ending in "a" are more feminine.  My first was Baby Boy for about 12 hours.  I had 2 names in mind and Dh and I just couldn't decide.  We had to see him before we could decide.  Naming is personal and I think the name just kinda hits you when it is right.  Try picturing the name in several different stages of life.  What would hispre-school friends call him, his college friends, his nieces and nephews?

I always try to imagine the name on the marquis in front of the law firm.  Can it be professional enough to carry into adulthood?  You spend more time in life as an adult than a child!
