    baby shower

Okay, I have a few questions about baby showers, since I am a first time mom and have never been to a baby shower I don't know much about them.  First of all since I'm due in December, and want to have the baby shower before all of the holidays, is October a good month for the shower to be?  Also, what do you do at them? I've heard of playing little games and things but some people I guess just have presents and cake...  I don't know.  Also, would it be better to have the shower on a Saturday or a Sunday? Well I can't think of any other questions I have right now, but if anyone can think of anything else I should know about a shower please fill me in!!! Thank you ladies!!!

And I"m sorry to any of you who've read my other post and responded (to the old boards, where my previous post was deleted) but I didn't get your responses. Thank you.

Congratualtions on becoming a new mom!  As for your shower it is perfectly fine to have the shower in October and either a Sat or Sun is fine. Whoever is throwing the shower for you just make sure the date is good with you both. You can play a couple of games and have small prizes for the winners or you can opt not to do games...its really your personal preference. So the day would probably go something like this: Guest arrive and you serve them a beverage and socialize for a little bit until you think everyone has arrived, then you can go straight in to the games. We did the match the child to their celebrity moms...we also printed out blank bingo boards and the guest had to fill in what gifts they thought I would receive and when I opened the gifts they would mark off accordingly and the first to get bingo wins a prize (so this game is played during the time you open gifts but have the guest fill out the bingo card when you are playing games). You can find tons of games to do on the internet - how many to play is really up to you but I think maybe 2 or 3 is good enough. Then after all the games have everyone go get a plate to eat and socialize some more while eating. Once everyone is done you can start opening gifts. After gifts serve cupcakes or cake and by that time people will start leaving. Hope this helps.

    Hey eebersold!

I just wanted to let you know that in two weeks we are going to be running a bunch of pieces on baby showers -- you might find some useful stuff in there! i'll try to remember to PM you when everything goes up, so you can check it out if you want!

Great, thank you both so much!

Angela Emory- I really like the idea of playing a few "baby" games at the shower - that sounds like fun. :)
