I have aways loved holidays but before kids it was totally self serving, a day to go out with friends. Now holidays mean fun family time to enjoy the splendor of it all. I am so glad that I can now appreciate the difference!

Oh, how precious your pirate and Power Ranger! You know, before the kid factor, I had long since forgotten the magic of the holidays. Now, however, watching as Kai experiences it all with such fresh eyes, I find myself reinvigorated in my own ability to appreciate these days as totally not trite ....

Ugh - I'm so sorry to hear about Joe's job but love that you're encouraging your family to look at this as an opportunity. Hang in there - I really do believe that when one door closes another one opens.

My boys have been vaccinated too but it is good to know what to look for and that they can still get them. The vaccination give a false sense of security that you wont have to deal with the illness but obviously that is not always the case.

Thanks for the tip on the homeopathic remedy, I'll file it away and hope to never need it!

Aren't mystery rashes scary? Last winter I was bathing my son when I discovered a lot of raised pimples with whiteheads. I had no idea what it could be and was shocked to learn they were chicken pox! Because he had been vaccinated, it didn't even occur to me to consider chicken pox. (BTW, a homeopathic remedy called Rhus Tox was tremendously helpful in easing his discomfort.)

I also agree with you about the laundry detergent. We switched to the eco brands almost a decade ago and have never looked back.

They have a mommy and me class at our rec center and we go once a week. I enjoy it but am not sure that I actually get a work out from it.

When Kari Welch said that, my eyes welled up with tears, too! It was such an honest, heartfelt moment at such an emotional moment for her. I remember what it felt like when the tug to get pregnant was so strong; I also remember putting it off in hopes of finishing a goal first.

So hooray to all those Olympic moms, and thank you to the network and bloggers like you for giving them so much coverage. They have showed all of us that you can be a serious athlete and have a womb, too. As Pat Shroeder once famously said, "I have a brain and a womb and I use them both."

Yes they are and now that the Olympics are over they get to spend some time at home and relax without the pressure of competing.
